Saltwater Vows

A barefoot bride. A runaway past. A second-chance love that refuses to stay buried.

About

When Lila Monroe runs out on her wedding in couture heels and heartbreak, she ends up barefoot in Driftwood Cove—the only place that ever felt like home. The only place that ever felt like hers. But she didn’t come back for a reunion. She came back to breathe, to hide, and maybe, to remember who she was before she became a brand.

Jonah Rhodes was the boy who carved her name into driftwood and caught her when the world cracked. Now he's the man building a life of sawdust and salt air—quiet, steady, and still haunted by the girl who left without goodbye.

When a panicked lie spirals into a fake engagement, the town rallies behind their favorite almost-couple with banners, potlucks, and seashell confetti. But the rules of the charade can’t contain the truth for long—not when old sparks reignite and forgiveness tastes like lemon shortbread and porch swing promises.

As the past threatens to write its own ending, Lila and Jonah must decide if they're brave enough to rewrite the story that once broke them.

Saltwater Vows is a heartfelt, emotionally charged second-chance romance about runaway brides, small-town beginnings, and the choice to stay when it's easier to run. For readers who believe love is worth rebuilding—one honest breath at a time.

Praise for this book

Lila has got a mess on her hands. Ran away from her wedding and is an influencer on Instagram. Jonah who is her friend and ex is thrown in the whirlwind . He still has feelings for her but will she give him another chance. Sweet, fighting to loving, second chance of getting a HEA.

I would rate the story as 4/5 as the author Stephanie Tyo had depicted the very mimical and emotional side of the women who doesn’t wanted to marry but circumstances make her to engaged first and then run away from that marriage and later she becomes a famous and aspire herself to grow and became a successful in career although the boy whom he left on the day of marriage still love her and waiting for her to returned but she didn't returned for the second chance in marriage or reunion but wanted some independence in her life ,to hide herself somehow as she fled leaving her marriage .she doesn’t wanted to be in barrier of marriage vows as it seemed as saltwater to her as saltwater always became salty similarly she was thinking that she no longer wanted to be in knots of marriage and want to free from this bond and grow herself to become successful in her career.

The story stated a girl named Lila Monroe who first engaged with his finance Jonah Rodes and then left him shattered and completely heartbroken on the day of marriage .his boyfriend couldn’t overcome the pains he had given and started fantasy of returning back her lover but she didn’t wanted to returned back .He carved her name into drift wood and caught her one day when the World cracked. The boy became haunted and alone in her memory and wanted back her in his life .the life became bare like sawdust and emptiness prevailed like darkness all over the surrounding and suffering from the pangs of separation but one lover wanted reconciliation and second chance and the other was running from the marriage .Both the lovers if reconciled together could ignite their love .

A good story about realizing love will always find a way. Lila runs from a marriage she doesn't want as it is only for show. She turns up back in Driftwood Cove in just her wedding dress and knocks on Jonah's door, Jonah and Lila were childhood friends and teens who were inseparable, he has been in love with her for years. Her returns starts their HEA in this must-read.

The romance between the two characters was written very well. The last chapters in the book felt compelling and heartwarming. I think the couple are a good match for each other. Lila felt realistic, running from her problems, and the epilogue was cute and resolved well. I liked how it was set in a small town, where characters share close bonds with one another. Reading this, it made me feel nostalgic.

I had a good time reading this. It is a nice summer read.
