Hearth Line takes something as ordinary as a smart-home device and turns it into a nightmare. The Appalachian setting, mysterious power lines, and slow-building supernatural dread made this an unsettling read. I'll definitely be looking at my smart speaker differently!
What stood out to me was the relationship between Wade and Josie. Beneath the supernatural horror is a story about grief, family, and the lengths a father will go to protect his daughter. The emotional moments stayed with me as much as the frightening ones.
An ancient presence using modern technology to enter people's homes is such a creepy premise. I loved how the mystery surrounding Buzzard Ridge gradually unfolded. The combination of small-town secrets and haunted technology made this a memorable supernatural horror story.
I came for the supernatural horror and stayed for the characters. Wade, Josie, Denise, and Earl made Ambrose Hollow feel like a real community. The growing danger kept me invested, but the relationships gave the story its heart.
Hearth Line builds from strange electrical disturbances into something genuinely frightening. The final chapters bring emotional weight to the horror, and the ending leaves you wondering whether the danger is truly over. A haunting small-town story with an original technological twist.
